2006
the year in
review!
Greetings from our household to yours! I know year-end letters
are supposed to happen at yearÕs end, but I now march to the beat of a
different drummerÉ a teeny tiny drummer who prefers playtime to
getting-chores-done time. (Just take a look at the dirty dishes in my sink if
you donÕt believe me.) No matter how late itÕs gotten (hello February!), I must
take stock and report on what must surely be the Best Year of my life! And this
report is All About Lizzie, of courseÉ
Hmm. January, February, MarchÉ so those months are just a big
fat blur to me now. I seem to recall being large, and having puffy feet, and
perhaps even waddling? (Can it be true??) It seems so very long ago. The real
news of the year began at 4:30 a.m. on April 1st when ELIZABETH LAURIE
THOMPSON was born!

My Mom Betty stayed with us the first month to help out and
marvel over her little namesake. The summer was spent growing and enjoying the
neighbourhood, as well as getting together once a week with a really terrific
group of Moms and Babies. Both of my lovely sisters Kerri and Jan came to visit
(and ooh and aaah), and several other friends dropped by as well.

Late in the summer we made the long (LONG) flight out to B.C. to
visit brother SeanÕs family and my sisters, after which we chilled out on
Saltspring Island with Grandma and Grandpa for a few weeks. Back home in
September, I started playing hockey again, and Lizzie was a very good sport
about being trundled to the rink and hanging out in stinky locker rooms. Lizzie
quite enjoyed her first HalloweÕen – she dressed up as a bear and we sat
on the front step and watched all the ghoulies go door to door.
Then we made the long (LONG LONG) flight to B.C. again for
Christmas and New YearÕs (and a good portion of January as well) with the
family. (Did I mention thatÕs a LONG flight?)

ThatÕs the year in a very small nutshell. WhatÕs missing from
this account is an awful lot of playing, singing, laughing, tickling, babbling,
hugging, kissing, and a MILLION firsts. Risking some rather obvious
mother-bias, Lizzie is a real sweetie – even-tempered, sociable, bright
and observant, cute as the dickens, healthy and happy happy happy.

A much more detailed account of our 2006 can be found in our
blog:
IÕve become a fairly regular blogger (it helps me avoid washing
those dishes), so if you ever want to read about the current events at casa kim
y liz, check it out!
ThatÕs about it for us. Wishing all of you health, happiness,
and lots of ha-cha-cha in 2007.
xoxo
