Hello all! Surprise surprise! I'm writing my year end/xmas letter... BEFORE Christmas! I hope this finds you all in excellent spirits and good health.
"So what happened to Kim this year?" you ask with breathless anticipation. Well, I'll tell you...
In January I signed on to story edit the new season of CAILLOU. (You may know him, the little bald kid? Show for preschoolers?) I was determined to write the kid some hair, but they wouldn't let me. All in all it was a nice gig, lasting a full ten months. And I still had time to write four scripts for the DOODLEBOPS, which began airing on CBC in February, and was picked up by the Disney Channel for broadcast in the States. From what I hear it's doing very well and even has several fan sites! I also did some development on a new show for Nelvana which hopefully I will be telling you all about in next year's letter.
In May I flew out to Wolseley, Sask. for my Grannie's Memorial Service. A sad event, but a good reunion of family and friends. A big group of us sat around the dinner table drinking wine and sharing stories, reminiscences and laughs. I think it was exactly what Grannie would have wanted! We also took a little trip out to the old farm for a look and some photos...
WOLSELEY GOTHIC: Jan, Kerri, Mom, Dad.
Sean, Rachelle and Ben didn't come out to Sask. because they had their own drama going on that weekend: the birth of Samuel Calder! Ben has a little brother!
Ben and Sam
I took this picture of the two boys when I went out for a visit in August. I spent some time in Vancouver and then lounged about my parents' house on Saltspring. I did one hike with Dad...

... but spent the majority of my time doing some serious quality napping.
Me, Mom and Kerri on a B.C. ferry!
The Wolseley weekend and the jaunt to B.C. was the only travelling I did this year. Why? What was I up to all year? The answer is twofold:
1. I bought a house!
I spent a few months tramping around looking at a wide variety of possibilities (including the site of a double suicide) before settling on this one. It's quite nice, I'm very pleased with it: detached, finished basement (for drums), great neighbourhood, close to transit (I still don't have a car), room for visitors (!!), and a large deck in back that's perfect for parties.
2. And my other 'project' for 2005:
That's right! Surprise! I am, at this moment, 24 weeks pregnant and all is going extremely well so far. (I wasn't even sick!) In case you think you missed a chapter somewhere, no, I'm not in a relationship or anything, this is something I decided to do on my own.
Well, after that little news bombshell I don't have much else to tell. I'm still playing the drums, but taking a pregnancy hiatus from hockey. (I miss hockey!!!!!) I'll soon be heading out to spend Christmas on Saltspring with the family, and sometime around the end of March Mom and Dad will have a third grandchild to dote on.
That's how life is shaping up for me! How's by you?
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a Splendiferous New Year to you all!
Kim
P.S. You can keep track of my fascinating life (ha!) right here at www.casakim.ca
I'm hoping to start a pregnancy/baby/other stuff blog on the site very soon.
